Open Space Impact Fee Funding Proposed for Three Chicago Public Schools Facilities

Improvement projects at three Chicago Public Schools facilities would be supported through Open Space Impact Fees (OSIF) proposed to City Council today by Mayor Brandon Johnson.

Kilmer Elementary School, at 6700 N. Greenview Ave. in Rogers Park, would receive up to $486,371 for a naturalized play area including a jungle gym, landscaping and drainage infrastructure. Total project costs are $1.1 million.

Tubman Elementary School, at 2851 N. Seminary St. in Lake View, would receive up to $294,155 for a new playground. Total project costs are $1.4 million.

Camras Elementary School, at 3000 N. Mango Ave. in Belmont Cragin, would receive up to $152,373 for a new play area, garden and turf field. Total project costs are $550,000.

The OSIF program allocates fees paid by residential construction projects for open space improvements that offset the impact of new residents on community parks and related resources.
