Today, the DNC launched a new ad campaign calling out Republican Senators Susan Collins (ME), John Cornyn (TX), Jon Husted (OH), and Dan Sullivan (AK) for repeatedly voting against extending enhanced ACA premium tax credits and causing health care premiums to skyrocket for millions of Americans. The Senate will vote again today on whether to extend these lifesaving credits that over 20 million Americans rely on to afford their insurance. The ads also call out Republican Senators Ted Cruz (TX), Lisa Murkowski (AK), and Bernie Moreno (OH).
The digital homepage takeover will run in the hometown newspapers of these four senators. Additional digital ads will target persuadable voters throughout these states, including in rural areas where these credits are especially vital.
The newspapers with homepage takeovers include:
A reminder: If Congress does not extend these lifesaving credits, more than 20 million people across the country could see their health care premiums double or triple this January, and many families will no longer be able to afford their coverage at all. The vast majority of voters - 58% - support extending these credits.
DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:
"Today's Senate vote to extend the ACA tax credits could be the difference between life and death for many Americans. Over 20 million Americans will see their health care premiums skyrocket next year if Susan Collins, John Cornyn, Jon Husted, and Dan Sullivan do not stand with working families and vote to extend these lifesaving credits. Working families are already struggling to afford the basics, and if they have to shell out hundreds of dollars more for their health care every month, they could be forced to choose between putting food on the table, paying their rent, or going uninsured. We are the wealthiest nation on earth - nobody should go without health care in the United States. Democrats will continue fighting to stop these price hikes and we urge all Republicans to join us."
