OCTA invites the community to thank the transit professionals who keep Orange County moving
ORANGE - Every year, the Orange County Transportation Authority's transit employees help millions of people safely reach their destinations, whether it's work, school, a medical appointment or simply a day at the beach to relax.
On Wednesday, March 18, OCTA will join transit agencies nationwide in celebrating Transit Employee Appreciation Day, recognizing the dedicated workforce that keeps Orange County's bus system operating safely and efficiently.
OCTA is encouraging riders and community members to take a moment to thank transit workers - including the coach operators who drive the buses, the mechanics and maintenance employees and parts clerks who keep them running safely and reliably, and the operations staff who work behind the scenes to ensure the entire system runs smoothly.
"Our transit employees are the face of OCTA and the backbone of our public transportation system," said OCTA Chair Jamey M. Federico. "From the coach operators who provide outstanding customer service on our buses to the maintenance and operations professionals who ensure every vehicle and route operates safely and efficiently, these workers serve our community with dedication and professionalism. I invite everyone in Orange County to join me in thanking them for everything they do."
Transit professionals represent the largest portion of OCTA's workforce and play a vital role in public safety and mobility throughout the county. They operate and maintain a system that provides millions of passenger trips each year, helping residents connect to essential services, employment centers, schools and recreational destinations.
