Congressman Thompson Announces Nearly $3 Million Federal Grant to Support Workforce Training and Reentry Services in Mississippi's Second Congressional District
BOLTON, MS - Congressman Bennie G. Thompson announced that the U.S. Department of Labor has awarded $2,999,999 to the West Jackson Community Development Corporation in Jackson, Mississippi, through the Reentry Employment in Skilled Trades, Advanced Manufacturing, Registered Apprenticeships, and Training (RESTART) Initiative.
The grant will support programs designed to help justice-involved individuals gain workforce readiness skills, receive training for in-demand careers, and secure meaningful employment opportunities. The RESTART Initiative serves ex-offenders across three populations: youth ages 15-17, young adults ages 18-24, and adults ages 25 and older.
