The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, has met with Lei Jun, the founder of the technology company Xiaomi, in Beijing. He conveyed that Spain offers a competitive industrial and logistical ecosystem for technological cooperation projects between Chinese and Spanish companies at the highest level.
During the meeting, Pedro Sánchez emphasised the technological capabilities, talent and reliability of the Spanish industrial sector, with a view to exploring potential collaboration projects with Xiaomi. In this vein, he emphasised Spain's growing role as a European hub for digital infrastructures, data centres and AI projects.
At present, the Chinese technology company is already working with leading Spanish companies in the automotive and advanced manufacturing sectors. President Sánchez said that this reality confirms the competitiveness and reliability of Spain's industrial sector when it comes to high-tech processes.
In turn, the founder of Xiaomi congratulated the President of the Government of Spain on Spain's economic growth, which he described as vertiginous and very positive.

Prior to the meeting, which formed part of the official visit by the President of the Government of Spain to the People's Republic of China, Lei Jun accompanied Pedro Sánchez on a tour of an exhibition showcasing the Chinese company's most innovative products. These included the latest electric vehicle models, a smart home recreation with integrated home automation systems and a section dedicated to automotive components, such as chassis, electric motors and batteries.
