The Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences at Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) will host a community plant sale this Saturday, April 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Old Science Building on the Weatherford campus. The community is invited to attend.
Biology students, guided by faculty, have spent the semester growing a diverse selection of plants for the event. Available options will include houseplants, native species, herbs, tomatoes, peppers, and more, with over 70 varieties expected to be available for purchase. Proceeds from the sale will support student-centered academic and community activities.
Additional activities are planned throughout the day. Students from SWOSU's Department of Music will perform nature-inspired pieces as part of a flute ensemble beginning at 10 a.m. Food trucks will be available on site, and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. While the recently constructed greenhouses will not be open for tours, guests are invited to explore the surrounding native gardens designed to support pollinators and local wildlife.
The department will also collect empty plant pots and containers during the event for reuse in greenhouse operations and future plant sales.
