The initial investigation indicates there was a large gathering in the area of Southeast Water Avenue and Southeast Caruthers Street before the shooting took place at about 2:49 a.m. Detectives believe that there are people who left the scene before police arrived and have not provided witness statements. Additionally, people may have photos or videos of what happened before, during, and after the shooting which may be critical to building a complete picture of the chain of events. Any piece of evidence, even if it may seem unrelated or insignificant, could hold an important key to the investigation.
