NEW YORK - U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) CEO Ben Black, Chief of Staff and Head of Investments (HOI) Conor Coleman, and Chief Policy Officer (CPO) Caroline Vik this week attended high-level meetings and engagements on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. DFC engagements highlighted the agency's unique capabilities to make money for the American taxpayer, meet the strategic interests of the United States, and move the needle for development for our allies and partners.
Ukraine Business Leader Roundtable:
CEO Black attended a closed-door Ukraine business roundtable with President Zelenskyy, U.S. Government officials, and private sector partners focused on strengthening Ukraine's economic security.
"President Trump called on DFC, alongside our partners across the U.S. government, to help build the foundation for Ukraine's economic recovery. The centerpiece of that effort is the U.S.-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund. I'm grateful to President Zelenkyy, and to the many at DFC, Treasury, and across the Government of Ukraine who work tirelessly against demanding timelines to meet the expectations we set. We are partnering with Ukraine during its most difficult years. We are proud to be a part of this effort and hope for lasting peace"
Devex Impact House:
HOI Coleman participated in a fireside chat with Anna Gawel, managing editor of Devex, at Devex's Impact House event.
"We're a big believer that you can do strategic, foreign policy-led investments that make a massive development impact and a financial return all at once. Right now, our pipeline sits at over 300 investments totaling roughly $100 billion. We are in a position to get back to business and get back to doing deals that really make an impact."
U.S.-Argentina Forum:
CPO Vik attended a State Department and Government of Argentina event for the launch of the Andes-Atlantic Corridor, a joint initiative to strengthen and modernize the infrastructure connecting Argentina's critical-mineral-rich northwest and Vaca Muerta energy basin to Atlantic ports and Western markets through modern rail, pipeline, port, power, and digital infrastructure. DFC can play a role in financing for high-impact Corridor projects alongside the private sector.
Signing Ceremony for DFC's WIOCC Investment:
HOI Coleman participated in a signing ceremony for DFC's recent board approval of an equity investment in WIOCC to strengthen critical digital infrastructure across Africa. The ceremony included Chris Wood, Group CEO of WIOCC, Rayan Alsaedi, Senior Vice President of Digital Infrastructure Investment of Vision, and Sameh Shenouda, Executive Director and Chief Investment Officer, from AFC.
"DFC's investment in WIOCC Group will help build the next generation of trusted, resilient digital infrastructure needed to power Africa's economic growth. This platform will not only provide the connectivity that businesses and communities need to participate in the digital economy, but it will also support American and allied partner companies seeking to grow in one of the world's most dynamic markets, including U.S. hyperscalers and the broader American technology ecosystem."
America First Global Health Strategy Event:
CPO Vik participated in a panel discussion on co-financing, transition, and the role of the private sector during a high-level dialogue on the State Department's America First Global Health Strategy hosted by the State Department and U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
"Health is a priority sector for DFC. We invest across the value chain in health manufacturing and supply chain, health services and infrastructure, and health technology. Our investments advance U.S. foreign policy priorities to diversify and strengthen regional health supply chains, build resilient health infrastructure, and bolster outbreak response capacity."
Trade Over Aid Deals Showcase:
CPO Vik participated in a Trade Over Aid Deals Showcase hosted by the United States Mission to the United Nations. During the showcase, she presented three high-impact deals DFC has advanced over the last year that have promoted mutually beneficial foreign trade and long-term economic resilience.
"Our partners need infrastructure, energy, technology, and capital to grow - and we can provide it, while generating returns for the American taxpayer. DFC's recently approved investments in WIOCC, an equity investment to strengthen critical digital infrastructure across Africa, in Cambodia's new Techo International Airport, one of the country's most important strategic infrastructure assets, and in our new U.S. Trade Finance Support Facility with the IFC, which will help facilitate the purchase of American goods abroad, are perfect examples of Trade Over Aid in practice."
These remarks have been lightly edited for clarity.
