Media Accreditation for the 19th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth Africa Region

Parliament, Monday, 8 June 2026 - Parliament, in partnership with the Gauteng Provincial Legislature, will co-host the 19th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) Africa Region at Emperors Palace in Gauteng from 15 to 20 June 2026.

The CSPOC Conference is a major parliamentary summit and will be held under the theme: "Proactive Parliaments and Sustainable Development: An Imperative for Political Stability in Africa." More than 50 African nations and heads of provincial legislatures are expected to attend this prestigious event to discuss parliamentary democracy, impartiality and governance.

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Africa Region is an assembly of 63 member parliaments, which comprise national parliaments and provincial legislatures. As the mother body of the 63-member parliaments, the CPA Africa Region comprises 9 regions primarily established to uphold good governance, democracy and human rights among Commonwealth countries in Africa.

Members of the media are encouraged to apply for accreditation via email. Media accreditation is open to all who wish to attend the CSPOC Africa Region in person. Media accreditation will close on Thursday, 11 June 2026. All media application requests must be received by 17:00.

Members of the media are urged to apply within the set timeframe, as no extensions will be granted.

Information required on the e-mail application includes:

  • Full name as it appears on the identity document
  • ID/passport number
  • Name of media organisation and media group
  • Designation (writer, photographer)
  • Email address, telephone number and mobile phone numbe

Media requesting to broadcast from the parliamentary precinct (at Emperors Palace Hotel) must also provide the following additional information:

  • Make and registration number(s) of vehicle(s) needed for broadcast
  • Service provider clearance certificates for proposed temporary broadcast-related structures
  • Other equipment
  • Date and time of arrival and departure
