Signing of Handover Protocol of section of former "Mantouvalou" Army Camp in Municipality of Eastern Mani

The Deputy Minister of National Defence Thanasis Davakis and the Mayor of Eastern Mani Petros Andreakos, yesterday morning signed the Handover protocol for the grant of use of a section of 13,039.83 square metres of the former "Mantouvalou" Army Camp in Gytheion.

This grant follows other grants of non-operationally essential army camps across the country, in order to provide benefits to the Armed Forces and their personnel, as well as to serve local administration needs.

The area granted to the Municipality of Eastern Mani is intended for housing primary education school units, as well as the development of sport and other public utility infrastructure.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Eastern Mani, Mr. Petros Andreakos committed to carry out the necessary studies and complete the process of urban planning in the whole of the former camp's area, towards its' comprehensive and organised utilisation to the benefit of the Armed Forces.
