Tempe, AZ - Tempe Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the deadly shooting that happened on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 2:19 a.m. at 401 S. Mill Ave. in Tempe.
Officers responded in less than 30 seconds to the scene and found a man with a gunshot wound, immediately providing life-saving aid. The victim, identified as 22-year-old Jacob Jaime, Jr., was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries.
A second man was also injured. His injuries were not life-threatening and did not require hospital care.
Through their investigative efforts, Tempe Police detectives identified and arrested 23-year-old Aidan Zepeda on March 29th in connection with the fatal shooting. He is facing charges of First-Degree Murder, Attempted First-Degree Murder, Second Degree Murder, Attempted Second-Degree Murder, Unlawful Discharge of Firearms, and Endangerment.
The deadly shooting happened in the early morning hours after downtown businesses and bars had closed. While this incident is taken very seriously, it is not reflective of the day-to-day experience in Tempe.

Currently, there is no indication of an ongoing threat to the community.
