WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Wittman (VA-01) released a statement in recognition of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announcementthat the Commonwealth of Virginia will receive $189,544,888 from the Rural Health Transformation Program in 2026. According to the CMS press release, the federal investment aims to "help states expand access to care in rural communities, strengthen the rural health workforce, modernize rural facilities and technology, and support innovative models that bring high-quality, dependable care closer to home."
"I am pleased to see that Virginia has been awarded $189,544,888 through the Rural Health Transformation Program," said Rep. Wittman. "This funding will support and sustain our rural health institutions - ensuring that Virginians have access to quality, affordable care, no matter where they live."
Earlier this year, Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01), Congresswoman Jen Kiggans (VA-02), Congressman John McGuire (VA-05), Congressman Ben Cline (VA-06), and Congressman Morgan Griffith (VA-09) sent a letterto CMS in support of the Commonwealth of Virginia's Rural Health Transformation Program application.
The Rural Health Transformation Program was created by the Working Families Tax Cut. The program allocates $50 billion to rural health institutions - further prioritizing the use of new and emerging technologies to improve patient outcomes as well as advance imaginative, next-generation models of health care delivery.
