The City of Pomona has a new City Clerk

On Monday, September 21st at the City Council Meeting, the City Council appointed Karla Shipman as the City Clerk. Karla has been a dedicated member of our City team since 2016, and has been serving as the Acting City Clerk since May 2026. She received her CMC in October 2021, and holds a Professional Certificate for CA Professional Municipal Clerks from UC Riverside.

The CMC is awarded from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC), which grants the CMC designation only to those Municipal Clerks who complete demanding education requirements and who have a record of significant contributions to their local government, their community and state.

The City Clerk is the City's elections official, and compliance officer for the Brown Act and the Public Records Act. The City Clerk's Office prepares City Council Agendas and records Council proceedings, manages the city's records and public records requests, and runs the Boards and Commissions appointment process.
