The Ministry for Foreign Affairs and its partners will organise a Crisis Management NOW event focusing on crisis management and peacebuilding on Tuesday 5 May.
This year, Finland celebrates seventy years of engagement in international crisis management.
The Crisis Management NOW event offers an opportunity to talk about and learn from current perspectives and practical experience in military and civilian crisis management.
The event will be opened by Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen.
"From the post-World War II peacekeeping missions to today's multidimensional operations, Finland has consistently and innovatively promoted international stability, the protection of civilians, and comprehensive crisis management," Minister Valtonen says.
The programme for the event, taking place at the University of Helsinki, will feature panel discussions and speeches from experts. In the session Practitioners on Stage, crisis management professionals share experiences from their work and career paths.
Participants interested in international crisis management roles can speak with field personnel and receive guidance on how to apply. The event will also feature thematic crisis-management workshops and exhibition stands to meet actors in the field.
The equipment display at Senate Square offers an opportunity to learn more about the work of the Police, the Finnish Defence Forces, the Finnish Border Guard and Customs - and to meet a customs dog.
No advance registration is required. The event is open to all and free of charge. The entrance is via Aleksanterinkatu 5, and the doors will be open from 9:00 to 16:15.
The event will be streamed live as a webcast.
