City to Activate Orange Flag Overnight Cooling Center September 11-13

The City of Greensboro will activate an overnight Orange Flag cooling center Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in response to the extreme heat.

Operated by Greensboro Community Safety Department staff, the Orange Flag cooling center will be open Friday, September 11, Saturday, September 12, and Sunday, September 13, from 7 pm to 7 am at the Interactive Resource Center, 407 E. Washington St. It is available to single adults and families.

Activation of the Orange Flag overnight cooling center occurs on days when the forecast daytime temperatures and/or heat index reach 90 degrees or higher, and overnight temperatures are not expected to fall below 70 degrees.

September 13 will be the 64^th day the City has activated the Orange Flag overnight cooling center since June 6 and the fourth day in a row.
