This fall Frostburg State University's Department of Music, Theatre and Dance sets sail on a comical adventure with How I Became a Pirate as part of the Roundabout Children's Theatre Tour. This fun musical is based on the popular children's story written by Melinda Long and illustrated by David Shannon.

A public performance will take place in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU's Woodward D. Pealer Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 2 p.m.

How I Became a Pirate follows a band of comical pirates as they land on North Beach in search of an expert digger to join their crew. Braid Beard and his mates enlist the energetic Jeremy Jacob to help bury their treasure. Amidst the sailing adventure, young Jeremy learns that love and home are treasures you can't find on any map! With terrific songs like "You've Got to Talk Like a Pirate," "I'm Really Just a Sensitive Guy," and "Pirates Dot Aaargh!" this musical version of the popular book, How I Became a Pirate, will have you rolling in the aisles and wishing for Braid Beard and his crew to pay your family a visit.

How I Became a Pirate The Musical's book, music and lyrics were written by Janet Yates Vogt and Mark Friedman. The production is directed by Nicole Mattis with Musical Direction by Michaela Hale and Choreography by Grace Stevenson.
