ADVISORY - PHILADELPHIA - Shapiro Administration to Announce New Program to Increase Employment and Training Opportunities for Pennsylvania SNAP Recipients, Help them Meet Federal Work Requirements

Shapiro Administrationleaders will announce a new certification program that will help SNAP recipients meet new work and reporting requirements for the program and keep their benefits by increasing the number of DHS education and training providers.

Last year, President Trump signed into law a bill requiring most SNAP recipients to report at least 20 hours a week (or 80 hours total per month) of work, volunteering or education in order to maintain benefits.

DHS Office of Income Maintenance Deputy Secretary Hoa Pham and Department of Labor & Industry Deputy Secretary for Workforce Development Patricia Blumenauer will visit the Community College of Philadelphia -- a DHS SNAP employment and training partner -- to share how this new certification will expand SNAP employment and training providers across Pennsylvania and connect SNAP recipients to vital education, job training, and employment opportunities.
