SPECIAL ENVOY FROM GERMANY VISITS FIJI...

The Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Lenora Qereqeretabua, welcomed Germany's Special Envoy, Ambassador Dr Thomas Fitschen, in Suva yesterday.

The visit follows Prime Minister Honourable Sitiveni Rabuka's meeting with Germany's Federal Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul at the UN General Assembly in September.

Honourable Qereqeretabua commended Germany's continued support to Fiji through development and climate resilience initiatives led by the German Embassy and GIZ - German Development Cooperation.

Ambassador Dr Fitschen reiterated Germany's dedication to supporting Fiji's development priorities and highlighted the importance of regional solidarity in promoting peace and prosperity. Also present at the meeting was the German Ambassador to Fiji and Special Envoy for the Pacific Island States, Dr Andreas Prothmann.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepen cooperation in climate change, ocean governance, sustainable development, and regional security.

Fiji and Germany mark 52 years of enduring diplomatic relations.
