ICE arrests 2 criminal illegal aliens from Prince George’s County Detention Center after detainer not honored

BALTIMORE - After refusing to honor ICE detainers and U.S. immigration law, Prince George's County Detention Center dismissed two criminal illegal aliens - one of whom is a suspected Tren de Aragua gang member - of criminal charges and released them back into the community.

As a result, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Baltimore conducted targeted enforcement operations on July 9 to locate and arrest Yeferson Jose Canamo-Jordan, a 28-year-old Venezuelan national and suspected TdA gang member, and Felipe Fernando Reymundo, a 23-year-old Guatemalan national. ICE arrested both men during lawful vehicle stops in Upper Marlboro.

"Sanctuary policies continue to disregard U.S. immigration law and put communities at risk by releasing illegal aliens prone to criminal activity into our communities," said ERO Washington Field Office Director Robert Guadian. "By choosing not to honor ICE detainers, county jails give us no option but to conduct more arrests in the community rather than in the safe and controlled environment of a jail. ICE will continue to uphold our nation's law and hold illegal aliens accountable for unlawfully entering the U.S."

The two illegal aliens released from Prince George's County Detention Center have prior criminal charges, posing potential risk to the community.

Canamo-Jordan unlawfully entered the U.S. in August 2022 but was paroled by U.S. Border Patrol under the failed Biden catch-and-release policies in place at the border. He was convicted later for driving without a valid license and recently charged with assault.

Reymundo unlawfully entered the U.S. at an unknown date and location without being inspected, admitted, or paroled. He has a record of several arrests since 2025 for charges including arson, malicious destruction of property, trespassing and motor vehicle theft.  

While sanctuary policies may dismiss their criminal charges, Canamo-Jordan and Reymundo still face the consequences of violating U.S. immigration law and will remain under ICE custody, pending removal proceeding.

Despite sanctuary city push back, ICE will continue to uphold federal law and lodge immigration detainers against illegal aliens when probable cause to exists for removal from the United States.
