Stafford County Holding Groundbreaking for New Rockhill Fire Station

The public is invited to help Stafford County break ground on Station 8, the new Rockhill Fire Station, on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 10 am. The site is located along Mountain View Road, near Willowmere Park. Parking will be available at Willowmere Park as well as shuttles to the groundbreaking site.

"Protecting the safety and well-being of our residents is one of our Board's most important responsibilities," said Chairman of the Board of Supervisors Deuntay Diggs. "Every resident deserves to know that help will be there when they need it most. This new fire station will strengthen our Fire and Rescue Department's ability to respond quickly, protect lives and property and provide the high level of service our growing community deserves."

This estimated $21 million project, including land acquisition and construction costs, represents a major County investment in public safety. The 17,000-square-foot, three-bay facility will serve both career and volunteer personnel. The bays will be bidirectional (drive-thru) bays, allowing for efficient emergency responses.

"This new station represents a significant investment in the safety of our community, bringing Fire Station 8 and the Rockhill Volunteer Rescue Squad together under one roof," said Supervisor Crystal Vanuch. "By uniting these dedicated public safety professionals in a more central location, we are strengthening coordination, improving response times, and enhancing our ability to protect the lives and property of Rock Hill residents."

Additionally, the Rockhill Fire and Rescue Station will be Stafford County's first LEED-certified government building. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification is the most widely recognized standard for green buildings and promotes energy efficiency, sustainability, and cost savings.

The site is under construction, and attendees are advised to wear appropriate shoes and clothing.
