John Donald Robb Musical Trust presents ¡Música del Corazón! Nov. 16

Keller Hall hosts the 12th annual ¡Música del Corazón! concert, presented by the John Donald Robb Musical Trust, on Sunday, Nov. 16.

The concert celebrates the rich cultural legacy of the accordion in the development of Hispano music of the American Southwest, with a particular focus on New Mexico. The performance showcases the instrument's journey from its European roots to its prominent place in Nuevo Mexicano folk and popular music.

Through live performances, storytelling and historical context, the show highlights how the accordion became an iconic instrument in regional genres such as rancheras, norteñas, polkas and valses.

¡Música del Corazón! features many artists, from tradition bearers to contemporary interpreters, each demonstrating how the instrument continues to evolve while honoring its cultural roots.

The lineup includes: • Giselle Cruz with special guest Micky Cruz • Carlos Medina • Miguelito Romero • Felix "Gato" Peralta with special guest Lara Manzanares • Ballet Folklórico Santa Fe • Robb Award honoree Raven Chacón

Admission is free, and the performance will take place on Sunday, Nov. 16, at Keller Hall. A preconcert roundtable featuring Dr. Enrique Lamadrid, Robert Lucero Jr. and other guests to be announced, facilitated by Dr. Carmella Scorcia-Pacheco, will begin at 2 p.m. The concert will follow at 3 p.m.

The John Donald Robb Musical Trust works to support the music and musical legacy of John Donald Robb, advancing the understanding of the music of the Southwest and furthering Robb's lifelong commitment to education.

John Donald Robb was a lawyer, composer, arts educator, author and folk song collector. He moved to New Mexico in 1941 to join the University of New Mexico Department of Music faculty. His many contributions to the state's cultural heritage include music education and the preservation of Hispanic folk music through thousands of field recordings.
