Brussels, XX March 2026 - Burson, the global communications agency purpose-built to create value for clients through reputation, today announced the appointment of Mathew Heim as Senior Advisor, Competition, Litigation and Regulatory. In this role, Heim will support clients navigating complex competition enforcement, regulatory scrutiny and litigation-related public affairs challenges.

Heim will work closely with Burson's Competition, Litigation and Regulatory; Technology; Energy & Industrials; and Corporate and Public Affairs teams across EMEA and globally. He brings more than two decades of experience at the intersection of law, policy, and strategic communications.

Previously, Heim served as Head of International Competition Policy at Amazon, based in Seattle, and as Vice President and Counsel at Qualcomm in Europe. Heim remains actively engaged in the global competition policy community. He serves as Senior Advisor to Business at OECD (BIAC)'s Competition Committee to the OECD and as a Non-Governmental Advisor to the International Competition Network, nominated by the UK Competition and Markets Authority. He is also Co-Chair of the International Chamber of Commerce Task Force on Competition Law and the Digital Economy.

In addition, Heim is a non-resident Senior Fellow at the George Washington Competition & Innovation Lab, where his research focuses on competition policy governance. His work has been published in leading journals including the Journal of European Competition Law and Practice, European Competition Law Review, Competition Policy International and Concurrences.

Andrew Cecil, CEO of Burson Brussels, said: "Clients are facing increasingly intricate and high-stakes regulatory challenges, from navigating an evolving competition policy to mitigating the complexity of international enforcement actions and innovating while under intense regulatory scrutiny. His arrival truly underscores Burson's commitment to assembling the strongest talent in the industry for our clients."
