Air Cargo Industry Recognizes Capabilities of Felipe Ángeles International Airport

• AIFA has become a strategic logistics hub for cargo

Acting on the instructions of President Claudia Sheinbaum, the Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), the National Customs Agency (ANAM), and Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) conducted a supervisory visit to the airport. Joined by leaders from the air and ground cargo industry and customs agencies, the group heard directly from cargo companies and reviewed progress on infrastructure and systems modernization. The visit was a follow-up to earlier working meetings aimed at strengthening AIFA's cargo operations.

The visit highlighted AIFA's infrastructure and capacity to handle large-scale operations, confirming its standing as a world-class logistics hub. The Mexican Government emphasized that the airport's technological integration and streamlined customs processes have significantly reduced transit times, strengthening Mexico's competitiveness in global trade.

"Collaboration between the federal government and the air cargo sector is essential to strengthening the Mexico City Metropolitan Airport System. Today we confirmed that this infrastructure is already a model of operational efficiency and cargo security," said Foreign Secretary Roberto Velasco Álvarez and Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation Secretary Jesús Esteva Medina.

Representatives of major cargo airlines and courier companies issued key statements, which included:

• Reaffirmation of their commitment to maintain and expand operations at AIFA
• Recognition of the air and ground connectivity that supports domestic and international distribution
• A commitment to continue investing in their own infrastructure within the airport complex to strengthen the logistics ecosystem

The event also drew attention to customs modernization, with ANAM highlighting the rigorous yet agile controls that are vital for moving high-value and perishable goods.

This joint effort reaffirms the private sector's confidence in the regional development and connectivity policies of the current administration.
