Maputo, Mozambique - The European Union Military Assistance Mission in Mozambique (EUMAM MOZ) received today the Director for Resource Management of the Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO), Mihaela Zupancic Magovac, for a visit to the Mission Headquarters.

The delegation was welcomed by the Deputy Mission Force Commander, Colonel Jarmo Keskinen, and was briefed on the Mission's mandate, main activities and operational priorities. The session also included a Q&A segment, allowing for a direct exchange on the Mission's objectives and challenges in the Mozambican context.

The delegation included representatives from the Delegation of the European Union to Mozambique, as well as regional and national DG ECHO officials.

The visit of DG ECHO to Mozambique is part of the European Union's (EU) direct support to Mozambican authorities in responding to the consequences of the floods. The EU recently sent an humanitarian cargo flight to Mozambique with 88 tons of health equipment, shelters, hygiene items, nutrition supplies, educational materials, and protection items, intended for the affected populations.
