LMU Named Among the Nation’s Top Colleges by U.S. News & World Report, Earning Stellar Scores for Business and Engineering Programs

Loyola Marymount University ranks 12th among Catholic colleges and universities nationwide, and is named the country's 60th best private institution in the newly released edition of U.S. News & World Report's Best Colleges.

For undergraduate teaching, LMU secured the No. 22 spot - a ranking that speaks to the university's high quality of undergraduate instruction. LMU also clinched seven top 25 specialty rankings, including those for undergraduate business and engineering programs, climbing in the ranks in several areas.

LMU College of Business Administration, which this year celebrates its 100th anniversary, earned five top 25 spots: No. 15, International Business; No. 16, Entrepreneurship; No. 16, Analytics; No. 17, Marketing; and No. 24, Management. Other high performers include Finance, No. 29 and Accounting, No. 37. LMU is ranked 83rd overall for undergraduate business.

LMU Frank R. Seaver College of Science and Engineering, which consistently earns high marks from U.S. News and World Report, landed at No. 22 for Best Undergraduate Engineering programs.

New this year, U.S. News added an earnings-by-major indicator to its overall ranking methodology. The measure compares graduates' earnings with those of graduates in the same fields of study at peer institutions. LMU's performance on this indicator was particularly strong, placing 47th among national universities and contributing positively to the university's overall U.S. News score.

LMU is No. 109 among the nation's top colleges in the U.S. News & World Report's Best Colleges guide, which provides a data-driven comparison of more than 1,700 colleges and universities using up to 17 measures of academic quality and graduate success.

The U.S. News & World Report rankings follow last month's Princeton Review's Guide to the Best 392 Colleges. There, LMU was ranked No. 9 Best College Newspaper; No. 16 Best College Library; No. 17 for lots of Race/Class Interaction; No. 17 Most Engaged in Community Service; No. 22 Best College Theater; and No. 25 Most Beautiful Campus.
