WASHINGTON - Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund and its grassroots networks, Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, declared a major victory today as voters elected Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton to represent Illinois in the U.S. Senate.
"From banning assault weapons to investing in community violence intervention, Juliana Stratton helped make Illinois a national leader on gun safety," said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. "She heads to the Senate with a gun safety record few candidates can match, and Everytown looks forward to working with her in Washington."
"Juliana Stratton has long understood that keeping families safe starts with investing in the communities hit hardest by gun violence," said Angela Ferrell-Zabala, executive director of Moms Demand Action. "That conviction has guided her work as lieutenant governor, and now she'll carry it to the U.S. Senate. Our movement congratulates her, and we look forward to the work ahead."
"Illinois parents know Juliana Stratton as a leader who listens, and it means so much to see her elected to the U.S. Senate," said Meril Chickini, a volunteer with the Illinois chapter of Moms Demand Action. "Every child in our state should be able to grow up safe, and we know she'll fight for exactly that."
