WASHINGTON - Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund and its grassroots networks, Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, declared a major victory today as voters re-elected Governor Josh Shapiro in Pennsylvania.
"From going after ghost guns as attorney general to investing in community violence intervention as governor, Josh Shapiro has spent his career working to keep Pennsylvanians safe," said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. "Everytown congratulates Governor Shapiro on a second term, and stands ready to help him enact common-sense gun safety laws."
"Pennsylvania volunteers have spent four years pushing for gun safety in Harrisburg, and they've never had to wonder where Governor Shapiro stands," said Angela Ferrell-Zabala, executive director of Moms Demand Action. "This fall, they made sure voters knew it too. Our movement is proud to see him re-elected, and we're ready to keep working with him."
"Governor Shapiro has stood with Pennsylvania families through some of our hardest moments, and we couldn't be prouder to help send him back to the governor's office," said Sheli Pratt-McHugh, a volunteer with the Pennsylvania chapter of Moms Demand Action. "We talked to our neighbors from Pittsburgh to Philadelphia about what this race meant for our safety, and they turned out for him. Now we're ready to get to work."
Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund endorsed 503 gun safety champions running at every level of government, from statehouses to governor's offices. Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action volunteers made more than 15 million voter contacts to help elect them.
