Monmouth’s Andrew Kurtz Earns National Recognition for Broadcast Excellence

Andrew Kurtz, Monmouth University's associate athletic director for broadcast production, has been named a finalist for the inaugural FloCollege CSC Spotlight Award, a new honor created by FloSports to recognize outstanding college sports communicators. Kurtz, who leads broadcasts for the Coastal Athletic Association member, is the only Division I honoree among the 18 finalists chosen nationwide, one from each of FloCollege's partner conferences.

The award celebrates communicators who elevate their student-athletes, programs and institutions through storytelling, advocacy and a commitment to excellence. Each finalist receives a $500 award, and one grand prize winner will receive $5,000, to be announced June 9 at a FloCollege reception during the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics Convention in Las Vegas.

"This recognition really belongs to the students who work alongside me every week," Kurtz said. "We take a lot of pride in telling Monmouth's stories the right way, and it means a great deal to see that work recognized on a national stage."

"We wouldn't be able to operate without the contributions of these finalists and the many deserving nominees who were considered for this recognition," said John Turner, VP & GM of FloCollege. "While only a handful could be named finalists, the submissions made one thing clear: college athletics is stronger because of the professionals who work behind the scenes to tell stories, promote student-athletes and elevate their institutions," Turner said.

Kurtz, a York College of Pennsylvania alumnus, joined Monmouth's athletics staff in 2015 and now leads broadcast production from the Monmouth Digital Network's centralized control room, the Parton Broadcasting Center. He has produced more than 150 ESPN broadcasts, captured multiple plays that landed on SportsCenter's Top 10, and earned Monmouth a 2022 Sports Video Group College Sports Media Award for Outstanding Live Non-Game Production, along with more than 10 SVG finalist honors.
