Columbia Police respond to assault on North College Avenue

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

At about 11:10 a.m. on June 3, Columbia Police officers responded to a call for an assault investigation at the 1200 block of North College Avenue. During the course of the investigation, officers found probable cause to arrest Brandon L. Shoupe, 43, of Columbia.

It was reported that Shoupe made threats to harm himself, family members and his employees. Shoupe also made threats to harm law enforcement officers if they attempted to apprehend him.

Columbia Police Street Crimes detectives, utilizing the FLOCK camera system, located Shoupe in the area of U.S. 63 and Conley Road. Detectives made a traffic stop, and Shoupe attempted to flee. Shoupe was taken into custody with possession of two firearms and a substance suspected to be a controlled substance.

Shoupe was arrested for the following charges: fourth-degree assault, fourth-degree domestic violence, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, two counts of armed criminal action, delivery of a controlled substance and felony resisting arrest.
