BOROUGH PRESIDENT GIBSON AND ASEZ WAO CELEBRATE SUCCESSFUL CONCLUSION OF THE "DUMP ON THE BRONX" SUMMER CLEANUP SERIES WITH COMMUNITY FORUM AT BOROUGH HALL
"Reduce Crime Together" forum highlighted youth leadership, community cleanups, and the link between environmental justice and public safety
Bronx, NY - On Monday, June 30, 2025, Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson, in partnership with ASEZ WAO gathered at Bronx Borough Hall to mark the official conclusion of the "Don't Dump on the Bronx" campaign. The celebration included a community forum titled "Reduce Crime Together: Forum 2025," and a closing ceremony that brought together more than 100 residents and volunteers to reflect on the campaigns success and explore the connection between clean streets and safer neighborhoods.
The "Don't Dump on the Bronx" campaign launched in late May, mobilizing youth and community members across the borough in a coordinated effort to address illegal dumping, promote neighborhood pride, and raise awareness about public safety. Throughout the series, cleanups were held in key neighborhoods including Webster Avenue, Bailey Avenue, and the 149th Street and Third Avenue Hub. The campaign was held in alignment with Gun Violence Awareness Month to elevate the role of community-led initiatives in reducing gun violence and beautifying neighborhoods across the borough.
"This campaign showed us what is possible when we come together, invest in our communities, and empower our young people, said Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson. "Thank you to ASEZ WAO for partnering with us on this summer cleanup series and helping make it a success. Their passion, energy, and commitment to the Bronx inspired hundreds of volunteers and reminded us all that lasting change starts at the community level."

The community forum featured remarks from Borough President Gibson, ASEZ WAO representatives, and youth volunteers who participated in the campaign. Forum attendees discussed the environmental and public safety impacts of illegal dumping and how continued community service can help foster long-term change.
Although the official campaign has ended, Bronxites are encouraged to stay engaged by organizing local cleanups, reporting illegal dumping, and continuing to uplift neighborhoods across the borough.
