Bunnie Xo Doesn't Want To Be The 'Poster Child For Divorce': 'Nothing Hot About That'

Bunnie Xo got candid about her divorce from Jelly Roll in a new podcast interview.

The Dumb Blonde podcast host caught up with TODAY's Jenna Bush Hager on an episode of Open Book with Jenna, which premiered on Thursday (September 3). In a clip shared on Instagram, Bunnie Xo said, "I don't want to be the frickin' poster child for divorce, you know? Like, there's nothing hot about that. It's like, it's a very devastating situation that anybody ever has to go through. Families get broken up, hearts get broken. …It's time to move on."

"I think, it's so interesting tome, this culture we live in, and we've been here for a while. Where it's like, sometimes people's pain (is) other people's entertainment," Hager said.

"Oh, everybody loves to watch a train wreck," Bunnie replied. "And I was not going to participate in that circus."

Bunnie Xo previously caught up with Hager and Sheinelle Jones on TODAY with Jenna & Sheinelle. She said at the time, "they should have never let me back out in the streets because I love it here. I love it here, and I'm never going back. I mean, I hope that my journey can show women that, I feel like us as women, we put ourselves aside for, you know, partners, friends, kids. And it's like, we don't pour into ourselves. and sometimes you need to be selfish and you need to pour into yourself. And I just hope my journey can show people like, hey, you know what? It doesn't matter how hard of a situation you're going through, you're gonna get through that. You're gonna rise up. And you're gonna be an even better version of yourself."

Jelly Roll, 41, and Bunnie Xo, 46, separated on May 9. The "Need A Favor" artist filed for divorce on May 18 in Williamson County, Tennessee, outside of Nashville. The divorce was finalized on July 17, ending the marriage after nearly a decade. Jelly Roll and Bunnie met in 2015, and got married in August 2016 in a spontaneous wedding in Las Vegas, Nevada. They renewed their vows at the same venue in August 2023.

Bunnie initially addressed the divorce in an episode of Dumb Blonde, which she later removed. She explained that she took it down because "I realized I just don't want one of the hardest moments of my life to become a permanent headline. …I believe in being transparent with you guys and that's never, ever, ever going to change. But I also believe that people deserve the space to heal, to evolve and to move forward." She's since said on her podcast that she "will never" get married again.

Jelly Roll directed people to Bunnie's Dumb Blonde podcast episode before she took it down. He addressed the split once on stage, saying, in part: "Me and my wife are best friends. We will always be best friends. We just got off the phone earlier today. Nobody cheated on nobody. She just did a whole podcast about it. You can go watch it. Every word of it is the truth. That will be my best friend forever." Jelly Roll has since said that he'll "take some time off and heal."
