Affordable Housing and Inclusionary Zoning Study Virtual Meeting April

Affordable Housing and Inclusionary Zoning Study Virtual Meeting April

Published on April 06, 2026

The City of Menlo Park is participating in a multi-city initiative to explore updates to affordable housing policies applied to new development projects. Known as a Housing Nexus Study, this initiative will evaluate the impact of new development on the need for affordable housing. In addition to Menlo Park, nine other cities and the County of San Mateo are participating in this study.

Join the virtual public meeting Monday, April 13 from 6-7 p.m. via Zoom.

The project team, led by Strategic Economics and Community Planning Collaborative, will share the purpose and goals of the study and explain how the findings could be used to inform policies that help produce affordable housing in Menlo Park, through actions such as updating the percentage of units required to be rented at affordable levels (inclusionary units), updating the affordability level of inclusionary units and updating the commercial linkage fees paid by new developments that are unable to provide onsite housing. The meeting will provide an opportunity for members of the public to ask questions and participants will also be invited to provide feedback on these policies via a follow-up online survey.
