On June 26, 2026, the fourth round of consultations between the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and the Secretariat of the United Nations took place in New York, USA.
The delegations were headed by Deputy Secretary-General of the SCO Ahmad Saidmurodzoda and Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations for the Middle East, Europe, America and Asia-Pacific, Mohamed Khaled Khiari.

The UN Secretariat was represented at the consultations by the Department of Political Affairs and Peacebuilding and the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia.
During the consultations, the paties had a thorough exchange of views on a wide range of areas within the purview of the executive bodies of the SCO and the UN.
The SCO Secretariat delegation briefed its partners on preparations for the upcoming Bishkek SCO Summit, the outcomes of ministerial meetings and sessions held under Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship, the progress of the negotiation process on the comprehensive improvement of the Organisation, as well as on the development of partnership relations between the Secretariat and the specialised agencies of the world organisation.

The UN Secretariat delegation shared information on its work under the "Climate, Peace and Security" agenda, on efforts to stabilise the situation in Afghanistan, and on providing assistance to Central Asian countries in maintaining sustainable peace and stability in the region.
The consultations were held in a constructive atmosphere.
Relations between the SCO Secretariat and the UN Secretariat are developing on the basis of the Joint Declaration on Cooperation, signed on April 5, 2010, in Tashkent.
