Bettendorf Police and Fire Departments Respond to a House Fire

BETTENDORF, IOWA - April 19, 2026 - Bettendorf Police and Fire Departments Responds to a House FireAt approximately 2:02 p.m. today, a 911 call was received reporting a house fire at 3018 Bellevue Avenue. A neighbor and a responding police officer were able to enter the residence and rescue the 76-year-old male homeowner, who was found unconscious inside.CPR was initiated immediately. Medics arrived on scene and continued lifesaving efforts; however, the individual was pronounced deceased a short time later. The Bettendorf Fire Department, with assistance from the Davenport Fire Department and the Rock Island Arsenal Fire Department, has extinguished the fire. Fire investigators remain on scene, and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined. The public is encouraged to avoid the area while emergency responders keep the roadway closed.The incident remains under investigation. The homeowner lived alone, and no other injuries were reported. At this time, no foul play is suspected, and no further information is being released.
