The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) today joined Representative Adrian Madaro and children from the East Boston YMCA preschool program to celebrate the reopening of the newly renovated playground at Bremen Street Park. During the event, the preschoolers enjoyed exploring the brand-new play structure and swings firsthand.
"I am excited to join Massport in reopening this brand-new play area at Bremen Street Park," said Representative Adrian Madaro. "Bremen Street Park is an integral green space for the families of East Boston, and I look forward to bringing my own kids to this fantastic park and seeing the playground bustling with families from around the neighborhood."
The renovation is part of Massport's broader effort to improve playgrounds and family amenities across its properties, giving children and families more opportunities for interactive play and outdoor fun in East Boston. Designed for children of all ages and abilities, the new play structure and swings provide a safe, accessible, and engaging place to play. The project replaces playground equipment originally installed in 2007.
"The Bremen Street Park playground is one of East Boston's most treasured community spaces, and these new improvements give families a refreshed play area for children to explore and enjoy," said Rich Davey, Massport CEO. "We at Massport are proud to continue investing in our parks and green spaces that improve quality of life for residents and visitors.
Bremen Street Park features 18.8 acres of green space, a playground, spray fountain and community garden. The park is also bookended by the East Boston YMCA and the East Boston branch of the Boston Public Library. Bremen Street Park is one of eight parks and open spaces that Massport owns or manages for local families and visitors to enjoy throughout the year.
