The City of Hoboken today announced it will launch Mondays at the Multi, a new community-focused initiative designed to improve access to social services, on Monday, Nov. 2. The initiative will bring together social workers from the City, Hoboken Public Library, and Hudson County, alongside local non-profits and service providers, to help individuals and families connect with essential resources and support.
The program will take place every Monday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Multi-Service Center, located at 124 Grand St. By bringing social workers and community partners together in one accessible location, Mondays at the Multi will provide residents with a singular place to seek guidance, learn about available programs, and receive assistance navigating services that address their individual and family needs.
"Caring for our residents means making sure that everyone has access to the resources, support, and opportunities they need to live fully," said Mayor Emily B. Jabbour. "We know that finding help or navigating social services can be overwhelming, so Mondays at the Multi is about simplifying the process so we can meet people where they are, treat everyone with dignity and compassion, and make it easier for residents to connect with knowledgeable professionals and organizations that can guide them toward services. By working together with our partners, we are building a stronger, more caring community where no one has to navigate challenges alone."
"As public servants, we have a responsibility to make sure our residents know they are never alone when facing difficult times," said Hudson County Executive Craig Guy. "I'm proud to stand alongside Mayor Jabbour and the City of Hoboken to create a welcoming space where people can find compassion, guidance, and a helping hand. This is what good government looks like: putting people first and working together to make a meaningful difference in their lives."
"For over 135 years, the Library has been a place for learning, opportunity, and connection," said Jennie Pu, Director of Hoboken Public Library. "We're thrilled to partner with the City of Hoboken and Hudson County on Mondays at the Multi, bringing together our social workers to make it easier for people to find the help they need. With our Grand Street Library right here, we're helping connect residents with the resources and support they need."
Through Mondays at the Multi, residents can meet with social workers who will help them navigate available programs and connect with appropriate services. Depending on individual circumstances and eligibility, residents may receive assistance and referrals related to housing stability, food assistance, public benefits, health insurance, family support, civil legal services, and other community resources.
The initiative will feature a rotating schedule of local community partners throughout the month from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Each organization will provide an additional opportunity for residents to learn about specialized services and receive support tailored to their needs.
The monthly schedule of partners will begin on Monday, Nov 2, with HOPES CAP, Inc. which can help provide residents with benefits assistance, utilities assistance, senior transportation, income tax preparation, early childhood education services, and more.
The schedule will be as follows moving forward:
All residents and community members who are seeking support or information about available services are encouraged to visit the Multi-Service Center at 124 Grand St. on Mondays between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. For more information on the initiative, please contact the City's social worker Lori Hetzel at (201) 420-2000 Ext. 1082 or [email protected].
