The company estimates the average residential gas customer could save as much as $9/month due to lower natural gas fuel costs
EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Oct. 8, 2026 - As colder weather approaches, CenterPoint Energy today shared its annual projections for natural gas heating bills this winter (November 2026 through March 2027), along with financial assistance and energy-saving resources available throughout the season.
Current forecasts show the average residential natural gas customer could save about $9 per month this winter compared to last year, largely due to lower expected natural gas supply costs. Earlier this week, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) issued its 2026-27 Winter Fuels Outlook, forecasting that Midwest households heating with natural gas will spend about 10% less this winter compared with last year.
"While the forecast for lower global fuel costs is welcome news for our customers this winter, we remain committed to prioritizing affordability for our customers and are continuing to share information early and often. We encourage customers to take advantage of the assistance programs, flexible payment options and energy-saving tools available to help them prepare for the upcoming winter season," said Mike Roeder, president of CenterPoint Energy Indiana.
