Governor Stitt Celebrates Release of “Reigniting the American Dream” Film
OKLAHOMA CITY (August 7, 2026) -Governor Kevin Stitt celebrated the release of his new documentary, Reigniting the American Dream, as part of his Chair's Initiative for the National Governors Association.
The film asks whether the notion that the circumstances of your birth don't have to determine where you end up is still true in America today. It tells real stories from governors, business leaders and everyday Americans who have persevered through challenges to reach their dreams and serve their communities.
"I know the American Dream is alive and well because I've lived it, and I've met people all over the country who. Have done the same," Governor Stitt said. "I know that if you're willing to work hard and persevere, you can accomplish anything"
To put the film together, Governor Stitt and his team sat down with dozens of people from different generations, backgrounds and political viewpoints. They talked about failure, second chances, faith, family, community and the moments when somebody believed in them enough to give them an opportunity.
"People wonder if the deck is stacked, if the Dream is only for a few people," Stitt said. "What this film shows is that the American Dream is still alive, but it's not automatic. It takes hard work."
The documentary is the capstone of Governor Stitt's National Governors Association chair's initiative, also called Reigniting the American Dream. Over the past year, that initiative has focused on three big ideas: helping more people start and grow businesses, making sure every learner at every age has a real shot in education, and building an energy future that keeps America strong and competitive.
Reigniting the American Dream will be shared broadly with educators, including tens of thousands of Advanced Placement teachers through a partnership with College Board, to spark classroom conversations about what it means to chase a dream in America today.
