Multi-week sidewalk closure on East Broadway between Fourth and Fifth streets begins Sept. 9
(COLUMBIA, MO)- Beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, the sidewalk in front of the McKinney Building, 411 E. Broadway, will close temporarily. The closure is necessary to protect pedestrians while structural repairs are made to the building.
The closure is expected to last several weeks. During this time, signs will guide pedestrians to safe crossings at both Fourth and Fifth streets.
The City of Columbia purchased the McKinney Building in August 2023 in an effort to preserve the historic property. The century-old building has served many roles over the years, including as a jazz venue, candy store, shopping outlet and African American community center.
