Firelands Regional Medical Center honored its volunteers during an appreciation dinner held at the Sandusky Yacht Club April 23, coinciding with National Volunteer Week. The celebration recognized the dedication and generosity of individuals who contribute their time and talents across the hospital.

In 2025, Firelands Regional Medical Center volunteers collectively donated over 10,512 hours of service. Based on the Independent Sector's valuation of volunteer time in Ohio ($34.79 per hour), these contributions represent an economic value of over $365,718.

A special thank you and recognition was given to volunteers celebrating significant years of service:

  • 5 Years: Cindy Carruthers
  • 10 Years: Marta Adelman and Ed Pawlowski
  • 15 Years: Bonnie Faber
  • 20 Years: Bev Matthews
  • 50 Years: Marty Sawicki

Throughout volunteer week, Firelands Regional Medical Center celebrated all its volunteers who assist in roles such as patient and guest relations, special projects, pet therapy and supporting areas such as the dialysis center, information desks and gift shops.
