The Department of Food Science at the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) held Nutrition Week under the theme "In Collaboration for a Healthier Community," featuring a Nutrition Clinic Day and a Nutrition Charity Walk to promote healthy living and support community wellbeing.
The Nutrition Clinic Day, held on Friday, 23 October 2026, at the IUIU Main Campus, Old Female Mosque Square, offered free nutrition screening and counselling, BMI, weight and height assessments, blood glucose and blood pressure checks, as well as dietary advice and healthy living tips. The event also featured a blood donation drive to encourage voluntary donation and help save lives.
The week's activities ended with the Nutrition Charity Walk on Monday, 26 October 2026, starting at IUIU Main Campus and heading to Mwanaumujimu Mbale Regional Hospital. The walk combined health awareness, guided fitness activities, group walking, and nutrition education with a charitable initiative to support the hospital.
Through these activities, IUIU reaffirmed its commitment to promoting preventive healthcare, nutrition awareness, and community service. The initiative highlighted the importance of healthy lifestyles and collective action in building healthier communities.
