The Alameda County Transportation Commission (ACTC) announced last week its Student Transit Pass that provides free and discounted rides on local and regional transit systems is now available to all Hayward Unified School District middle and high school students.
The Student Transit Pass offers unlimited free rides on AC Transit, Union City Transit and Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority (LAVTA) Wheels, 50 percent discounts on BART and discounts on other Bay Area systems, including SF Bay Ferry, Caltrain and SamTrans.
In an email to Hayward Mayor Mark Salinas on Thursday, ACTC Executive Director Tony Tavares announced that all students enrolled in middle and high schools in Hayward, San Leandro and San Lorenzo unified school districts are now eligible to apply for the Student Transit Pass Program regardless of their individual household income.
The blanket eligibility is the result of a recent ACTC analysis of overall Hayward, San Leandro and San Lorenzo unified school district data used by ACTC to determine income eligibility for the Student Transit Pass Program, Tavares wrote.
