College Raptor, a leading college planning platform, has recognized Southwestern University as one of the best colleges in the region for 2026. Southwestern checked in at #9 in College Raptor’s 11th annual Top 25 Best Southwest Colleges List, up four spots from the University’s #13 ranking a year ago. To create their list, College Raptor analyzed hundreds of colleges and universities across Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.

The honor marks SU’s second-highest ever ranking by the platform after debuting at #7 in the inaugural list in 2016. This is also Southwestern’s sixth consecutive year to be included in the top 15 as well as the eighth time in the last 11 years.

The selection recognizes Southwestern as a leading institution in the country based on a combination of factors, including the University’s graduation rate, campus diversity, endowment per student, selectivity, and other key metrics as reported via the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).

“Since 2015, we’ve carefully assembled our lists each year to highlight the best schools in different categories to help families get started in the discovery process,” College Raptor CEO Bill Staib said. “Southwestern has shown dedication to academic excellence. We are proud to highlight them.”

Southwestern received high marks from College Raptor for the University’s four-year graduation rate of 68% (ranked #6 in the Southwest), student-to-faculty ratio of 11:1 (ranked #9 in the Southwest), endowment per student of over $250,000 (ranked #3 in the Southwest), and first-year retention rate of 81% (ranked #13 in the Southwest).
