Storm Alert – Tropical Storm Arthur 6.17.26

Tropical Storm Arthur has developed near the middle of the Texas coast, marking the first named storm of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season. The storm is tracking northeast toward Louisiana with maximum sustained winds of 45 mph and is expected to move inland over southwest Louisiana tonight before weakening.

Rainfall totals of 5 to 10 inches are forecast through early Friday, with isolated amounts up to 20 inches. Impacts stretch from the mid and upper Texas coast through southern Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, western Georgia, and the Florida Panhandle. Life-threatening flash flooding is possible across the region.

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect from High Island, TX, to Morgan City, LA. A Storm Watch is in effect from Sargent, TX, to High Island, TX.

What This Means for Operations

Prolonged rainfall and the possibility of flooding can result in site closures, make roads impassable, and delay fuel deliveries. Underground storage tanks are at elevated risk, as rising groundwater can seep in and contaminate fuel, making early water detection critical. Carrier availability can also become tight as drivers may be pulled off the road in unsafe conditions.

Recommended Actions

  • Top off tanks. Ensure all sites within the impacted region are fueled ahead of ongoing rainfall and potential disruptions over the next several days.
  • Check for water contamination. Use water-finding paste to test tanks before fueling any equipment. If water levels exceed one inch, do not order or dispense fuel until the issue is resolved.
  • Stay in close contact with your Mansfield representative. Keep communication open regarding site closures, delivery delays, and any changes in the business operational status.

Mansfield will continue monitoring Arthur and provide updates as the storm progresses.
