POST FALLS-The Idaho Transportation Department is scheduled to repair two bridges in Kootenai County this year, beginning with spring in Post Falls and continuing into summer in Rathdrum.
Greensferry Road Overpass
Construction is set to begin Sunday night on Greensferry Road above Interstate 90 in Post Falls, with completion expected by mid-June. Repairs will be made to bridge fencing and railings, and the driving surface will be sealed.
All work impacting traffic is planned to take place at night between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. to keep daytime disruptions to a minimum. The bridge currently carries two lanes of traffic in each direction with sidewalks on both sides. No daytime lane closures on Greensferry Road are expected; however, pedestrians may be directed to one side of the bridge. Drivers should be aware that nighttime single-lane closures on I-90 beneath the overpass are expected throughout the construction period.
Drivers using the intersections on either side of the bridge - at Seltice Way and Mullan Avenue - should be aware that some nighttime adjustments to traffic patterns may occur throughout construction. Any detours or alternate routes will be clearly posted.
SH-41/SH-53 bridge over railroad tracks
Upon completion of the Post Falls project, crews will shift their focus to the bridge on State Highway 41 and State Highway 53 over the railroad tracks in Rathdrum. Work is expected to begin sometime between June and July, with completion anticipated by late fall. Drivers can expect nighttime lane closures on the bridge and at adjacent intersections, and pedestrian detours.
ITD appreciates the patience of drivers, pedestrians, and community members in both areas during construction. Motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time, especially during overnight hours and use Idaho 511 for updates about construction impacts.
Information is also available online for both the Greensferry Road overpass and the bridge in Rathdrum.
