Removal of Medicare and TPL Exemption
TO: Optometrists and Opticians
RE: Removal of Medicare and TPL Exemption
Effective for dates of service October 1, 2026 or after, Optometrists and Opticians must file claims with the beneficiary's primary insurance, including Medicare, before filing with Medicaid.
Additional claim filing instructions can be found in the Alabama Medicaid Provider Billing Manual, Chapter 5: Filing Claims.
