The group operates as part of the broader interdepartmental working group on climate change and sustainable development under the Presidential Executive Office.
The meeting brought together representatives from key ministries and agencies, the business sector, and leading figures from the scientific community for a substantive exchange of views. Discussions focused on strategically important aspects of ensuring technological sovereignty and modernising the energy sector.
The meeting participants conducted a comprehensive expert-level review of the key issues on the agenda. In particular, a joint report from the Energy Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Ministry of Energy outlined the principal challenges and barriers to low-emission and digital development within the domestic fuel and energy sector. Building on this, representatives from the Ministry of Energy detailed current government policy aimed at stimulating, supporting, and implementing advanced technological solutions in the industry. Speakers from the Ministry of Industry and Trade then presented a comprehensive analysis of the most promising and in-demand innovations for the sector, with a particular focus on development pathways in the context of limited financial resources.
Summing up the results of the discussion, the Presidential Aide emphasised the need for a systemic approach to overcoming the challenges identified. He instructed that the full range of issues raised concerning the technological development of Russia's fuel and energy sector be formally recorded in the minutes. These materials will serve as the foundation for in-depth analytical work and the development of targeted solutions at future expert group meetings.
