Natural decrease and positive net migration
According to provisional data for the 4th quarter of 2025, natural decrease of population (−1,453) and positive net migration (2,708) were recorded.

Fewer live births and more deaths
Between October and December 2025, 4,175 live births and 5,628 deaths were recorded in Slovenia. Compared to the same period of 2024, the number of live births was 34 (0.8%) lower, and the number of deaths was 135 (2.5%) higher. In a year, the value of natural decrease changed from −2.4 per 1,000 population to −2.7.
More marriages and fewer divorces
In the last three months of 2025, 1,062 couples were married or 72 (7%) more than in the same quarter of 2024 and 576 couples were divorced or 28 (5%) fewer.
Decrease in internal migration
In the fourth quarter of 2025, 27,509 people migrated internally, 8% fewer than in the same period of 2024.
Net migration of Slovenian citizens positive
In the observed quarter, 8,110 residents immigrated to Slovenia, 5% fewer than in the same period of 2024.
The number of emigrants decreased by 2% to 5,402. The number of emigrated citizens of Slovenia (1,215) was lower than the number of emigrated foreigners (4,187).
Positive net migration was recorded for foreign nationals (2,398 persons). Net migration of Slovene citizens was positive as well: 310 fewer emigrated from Slovenia than immigrated to it.
