"We are very grateful to your people and government for standing with us since the very beginning of this war. Thank you for supporting our path toward the European Union and our sanctions policy. We are also grateful for the share of your budget directed to supporting our army and our warriors," said the Head of State.

Margus Tsahkna assured that Ukraine can count on Estonia's support.

"We are doing everything we can because we share the same bad neighbor. You have taken the main blow, but it is our neighbor too. We will never recognize any changes in territorial integrity achieved by force - that is our principle," he stressed.

During the meeting, the parties discussed long-range capabilities, drone production, and overall defense support for Ukraine. The President thanked Estonia for its contribution to the PURL initiative, which enables our country to purchase American weapons. They also discussed cooperation between Ukraine and the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF).

Special attention was paid to ways of increasing pressure on Russia. The parties discussed Estonia's proposals regarding tariffs and the preparation of the 20th EU sanctions package.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Margus Tsahkna also spoke about priorities during Estonia's upcoming chairmanship of the Nordic-Baltic Eight (NB8) next year. Estonia plans to focus on the issues of supporting Ukraine - defense assistance, EU accession, recovery, security cooperation, and the use of frozen Russian assets. The Head of State emphasized that it was important that last week the European Union provided political support for the maximum use of these funds to defend against Russian aggression.

The meeting also covered diplomatic efforts. The President spoke about contacts with the United States and other partners.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented Margus Tsahkna with the Order of Merit, II class, and thanked him for his significant support for Ukraine.
