Oswego, New York - Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-24) today announced that the Development Authority of the North Country (DANC) will receive $750,000 in federal funding from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for the reconstruction of the Army Waterline that provides drinking water to Fort Drum and the surrounding community. This funding was secured by Tenney through the Fiscal Year 2024 Consolidated Appropriations Act (P.L. 118-42).
This award has long been a priority for the North Country. It will enhance essential infrastructure that supports both local residents and Fort Drum, the largest single-site employer in Northern New York. Replacing this aging and corroded pipeline is critical to ensuring a safe and reliable water supply, strengthening resiliency, and supporting the missions of the 10th Mountain Division.
The $750,000 award will allow DANC to move forward on necessary pipeline replacement projects, bolstering regional security and economic vitality. In Fiscal Year 2024, Congress appropriated resources for 1,022 congressionally directed water infrastructure projects nationwide totaling more than $1.4 billion.
"This investment will strengthen the foundation of our community and support the brave men and women stationed at Fort Drum," said Congresswoman Tenney. "By delivering this funding, we are ensuring that families and servicemembers alike have access to safe and reliable water infrastructure, while also supporting regional security and economic vitality."
